Henry Lowther died from wounds on 29th March, 1915, after having been sent to a base hospital on the coast, but as yet there is no information as to when and where he was wounded. The 2nd Royal Berkshire battalion was part of 25 Brigade, 8th Division, that had arrived in France in November, 1914 and since then had been in the lline around Laventie. The battalion saw some heavy fighting between 10t-15th March during the Batlle of Neuve Chapelle and it is likely that this was when he was wounded. |
